The owner of these two Renaissance consoles is a descendant of the ancient Sicilian colonist family of the Duke of Pallain, commander of the Battle of Lepanto (1.571), who in 1.577 was appointed Viceroy of Sicily by King Philip II of Spain.
The two consoles are made of carved wood, one gilded with gold leaf and the other with silver leaf (symbol of the masculine and feminine). Exceptional sculpture of four expressive dragons expelling flames and flowers from their mouths towards the central part where there is the phoenix (mythological bird that rises from its ashes). The base is four dolphins (symbol of the divinity of the sea). The top is a fake Sicilian-style polychrome marble.
ORDER
After searching a lot for a sculptor capable of interpreting from two photographs of the originals, because these types of pieces are very difficult to create, they found me through a recommendation. After a study of several days, I was able to make them, but without rushing since this type of process requires a very high state of concentration given that I only had two old photographs of the originals.
But, in the end, I feel happy that there are still people who like art. This way I can fulfill myself as an artist. I thank the client for their trust and patience with me.
